Operation type

Choose the type of operation, Duration

The other type of operation is: Formula

Unit

Choose the unit of the result for a Duration calculation.

This unit can be:

  • Day,

  • Time.

The result of this calculation is in the decimal format.

Example: 0.5 hour means 30 minutes.

According to the calendar

This unique choice list proposes the following calendars:

  • Empty: 24/7 Calendar,

  • Name of the heading dimension: the calculation is performed according to the resource’s calendar for the worked periods,

  • Name of the dimension’s resource type headings: the calculation is performed according to the calendar of the dependent resource for the worked periods,

Setting thresholds

The thresholds are colored indicators of whether or not objectives have been exceeded.

Note

This property is not available when using the Operation type of heading in a form.

Display remainder

Check this box to display the result in the form of a remainder between the objective and the calculated value.

If no objective is defined, this box is grayed and cannot be checked.

Note

This property is not available when using the Operation type of heading in a form.

Display as percentage

Check this box to display the result in the form of a percentage of the calculated value relating to the objective.

If no objective is defined, this box is grayed and cannot be checked.

Note

This property is not available when using the Operation type of heading in a form.

Persistence

Check the Persistence box to define the heading as persistent.

This box is grayed and cannot be checked if at least one of the headings used for the calculation (Heading 1 and/or Heading 2) is not persistent.

Note

This property is not available when using the Operation type of heading in a form.

Heading 1

Choose the first heading used for the calculation.

This heading’s type must be chosen from those compliant with the prerequisites above.

In the case of the dimension heading, you can select Now, i.e. the current date and time on the client workstation.

In the case of the form heading, you can select Start date or End date of the event.

Heading 2

Choose the second heading used for the calculation.

This heading’s type must be chosen from those compliant with the prerequisites above.

In the case of the dimension heading, you can select Now, i.e. the current date and time on the client workstation.

In the case of the form heading, you can select Start date or End date of the event.

Creating a Formula Operation heading

In the General Settings pane:

  • Right-click on a dimension > Create Heading > Operation,

  • or Right-click on a form > Create Heading > Operation,

The corresponding part is then enabled:

Specify the characteristics of this new heading, then click on the OK button.

A Formula Operation heading has the following characteristics:

Name

Give this heading a name.

Description

Give the heading a description. The description is optional.

Heading type

The type is Operation. This previously chosen characteristic cannot be modified.

Operation type

Choose the type of operation: Formula.

The other type of operation is: Duration

Formula

To define the terms of the formula, open the following window by clicking once:

The following window appears:

You must now construct the formula in the window.

Dimension

To do this, you can use:

Form

To do this, you can use:

  • headings,

  • operators,

  • constants,

  • calculations: Event-Number, Event-Duration in hours, Event-Duration in days, Event-Load in hours, Event-Load in days.

Then click on OK.

If the formula contains syntactical errors, the following error message is displayed:

Headings

To use headings in the formula configuration, Right-click in the formula window > Select the heading.

  • numerical or calculated headings from the same dimension or the same form,

  • numerical or calculated headings from dependent resources.

The displayed headings are those that comply with the above prerequisites.

Operators

To use operators when configuring the formula, enter them directly in the window.

These are the operators used for calculation. The following options are available:

  • Parentheses: ( ),

  • Addition: +,

  • Subtraction: -,

  • Multiplication: *,

  • Division: /,

  • Modulo: %,

  • Neper’s constant: E,

  • Pi constant: PI,

  • Power: ^,

  • Absolute value of X: abs(x),

  • Rounded integer closest to x: round(x),

  • Integer value greater than x: ceil(x),

  • Integer value less than x: floor(x),

  • Square root of x: sqrt(x),

  • Exponential of x: exp(x),

  • Neperian logarithm of x: ln(x),

  • Logarithm of x: log(x),

  • Minimum value between a and b: min(a,b),

  • Maximum value between a and b: max(a,b),

  • value comparators:

    • sup(x,y) will be equal to 1 if x>y, else will be equal to 0,
    • inf(x,y) will be equal to 1 if x<y, else will be equal to 0,
    • equals(x,y) will be equal to 1 if x=y, else will be equal to 0.
  • Remainder of Euclidian division: mod(x,y) = x%y,

See calculation below.
