Assignment

The assignment of a resource is its association with an event or another resource.

There are several alternatives:

  • the assignment of a resource to another resource,
  • the assignment of a resource to an event:
    • depending on an availability,
    • depending on a distance,
    • depending on the presence of certain events,
    • automatically.

ASSIGNMENT TO ANOTHER RESOURCE

This functionality exists for all resources which have a Resource type heading

From the properties window for a resource:

  • By selecting a “dependent” resource in the list (if the “load all when opening” option has been selected in the dimension).
  • By clicking on the selection button for a “dependent” resource: vp7_fr_bouton_loupe.

The following window opens:

vp7_en_ressource_affectation_rubrique_ressource

This window is used to select a resource.

To do this, the following actions are available:

  • Select a resource by clicking on it,
  • Reduce the number of visible resources by selecting a filter from among the resource filters of the dimension,
  • Search for a resource using the identification headings of the dimension,
  • Choose to display more headings by double-clicking on the name of the dimension

Depending on user rights, some of these actions may not prove possible.

ASSIGNING AN EVENT DEPENDING ON AN AVAILABILITY

This functionality exists for all events.

From an event’s properties window, click on the resource selection button: vp7_fr_bouton_loupe.

The following window opens:

vp7_en_evenement_affecter_ressource_2

This window is used to select one or more resources.

To do this, the following actions are available:

  • Select a resource by clicking on it,
  • Select multiple resources using Ctrl + click (for a vertical hierarchy),
  • Reduce the number of visible resources by selecting a filter from among the resource filters of the dimension,
  • Display only those resources available, using an events filter, and:
    • Search for a resource using the identification headings of the dimension,
    • Add a new resource,
    • Choose to display more headings by double-clicking on the name of the dimension

Depending on user rights, certain of these actions may not prove possible.

    Note

    • When assigning a resource to multiple events, the available resources shown in this window are those available for the whole period of all selected events,
    • For a control column type heading with the option of clicking on the date, the event’s start date is used as the pivot point for the calculation of the period.

ASSIGNING AN EVENT, DEPENDING ON THE DISTANCE

This functionality exists for all events if one of the dimensions has a Geolocation type heading.

From an event’s properties window, click on the resource selection button: vp7_fr_bouton_loupe.

    The following window opens:

    vp7_en_evenement_affecter_ressource_geolocalisation

This window is used to select one or more resources.

To do this, the following actions are available:

    • Select a resource by left-clicking on it,
    • Select multiple resources using Ctrl + click (for a vertical hierarchy),
    • Reduce the number of visible resources by selecting a filter from among the resource filters of the dimension,
    • Display only those resources available, using an events filters, and:
      • Compute distances by checking the dedicated box, then selecting two Geolocation type headings: see below.
      • Choose a localization period for the resources, checking the appropriate box: See below.

      Compute distance

If the Compute distance box is checked, a Distance column is displayed:

      vp7_en_evenement_affecter_ressource_geolocalisation

This column is not a distance type heading and is therefore not stored in the database.

It is simply a column that makes it easy to select resources.

It is calculated as being the distance between two selected geolocation type headings.

      Location period

      Caution

This option is only active if the Compute distances box s checked.

If the Location in box is checked, you must choose a period in number of days or number of hours:

      • Before,
      • or Afterwards.

The distance calculation is then completed, depending on the position of the resource within the events that follow (after) or precede (before) the event in question, during the selected period.

For resources without an event within the selected period, we assume that the localization heading for the resource is to be taken into account for the calculation of distance.

      Example:

Business meaning Example of associated configuration
Mr. Durand lives in Lyon The resource, Mr. Durand, has a geolocation heading with a value corresponding to Lyon
Mr. Durand travels to Marseille on Monday Mr. Durand is involved in an event on Monday whose “Activity” resource has a geolocation heading and whose value corresponds to Marseille.
Mr. Durand has no movements on Tuesday Mr. Durand has not geolocalized events on Tuesday
We are looking for someone to travel to Nice on Wednesday An event is set for Wednesday, on an “Activity” resource whose geolocation heading has a value corresponding to Nice.
How far does Mr. Durand have to travel if he leaves the evening before the event from his home in Lyon? Assignment according to the distance with a location period equal to 0 days
How far does Mr. Durand have to travel if he leaves two days before the event from his last place of work? (Marseille) Assignment according to the distance with a location period equal to 1 day

ASSIGNMENT DEPENDING ON THE PRESENCE OF EVENTS

From an event’s properties window, click on the resource selection button: vp7_fr_bouton_loupe.

      The following window opens:

      vp7_en_evenement_affecter_ressource_autres_evenements

      AUTOMATIC ASSIGNMENT

It is possible to automatically assign resources to a set of existing events.

Simply define an assignment criterion, made up of a filter and a set of headings.
