Resources Input Editor: configuration

Only users identified as “administrators” have access to the configuration.

These administrators can be:

  • The general administrator,

  • possibly the planner’s administrators.

 

Default Template

There is one default resources editor for each dimension.

This template is used:

  • if no other template exists,
  • or if none of the templates match the selected resource,
  • or if the resource can be edited with several templates.

To view this template, go to Settings > Input editors > Resources Input editors > ‘Dimension’ – (Default)

The corresponding pane is then displayed:

The only possible configuration for this template is the Always available button. Disable this button to conceal the existence of this template whenever a template is compatible with the resource selection.

Tip

You are advised not to disable this button when testing the application.

Classifying headings in the default editor

There are two ways to classify headings in the default editor.

By the order of headings defined in the dimension

  • For a Resources view, go to the view’s Display Settings and disable the Sort the default editor button,
  • For a Schedule view, go to the view’s Display Settings > select the Resources Rows tab and disable the Sort the default editor button,

  • For a Resources view, go to the view’s Display Settings and disable the Sort the default editor button,
  • For a Schedule view, go to the view’s Display Settings > select the Resources Rows tab and disable the Sort the default editor button,

Important

Headings not displayed in the Headings field of the Resource Rows tab will follow the order defined in the dimension.

Creating a Resources Editor

 

You can access the Input Editors menu using either the Global settings > Input editors pane, or via the Settings > Configuration block > Input editors menu.

Once you are in the window, right-click on Resources Input Editors > Add a new input Editor for > Choose the required dimension:

Specify the characteristics of the template, then click on the OK button to validate the creation.

These characteristics are:

Name

The Name field is required. It gives the template a name.

 

Description

The Description field is optional. It gives the template a description.

 

History

This represents the creation date and time and the most recent change to the template, together with the login of the user who performed these actions.

This characteristic cannot be edited.

 

Enabled

This button determines whether or not the template is active.

Tip

Disable the button to make the resource editor temporarily unavailable.

Dimension filter

Choose the filter that defines the resources to which the template applies.

Editor

To access the editor and configure its settings, click on the bouton-crayonbutton.

The following window appears:

Now build the editor using different objects to fill in or simply see the resource’s characteristics.

The object types are:

 

Resource headings

Select the headings.

Important

  • If the dimension has a Resource type item, the items for the latter can also be displayed in the resource editor. However, it will not be possible to modify these sections.
  • Special case of the image: An attachment type item of the Image type will adapt according to the size of the editor component.

Text input

You can insert text blocks positioned in the editor. To modify the text, double-click in the created text zone.

The following window appears:

Format the text.

 

Inserting attributes

You can insert schedule attributes into the text. However these attributes cannot be modified. To do this, Right-clicking the mouse > Attributes > Choose the attribute to add.

These characteristics cannot be modified when using the editor.

 

Inserting an image

You can insert an image into a text. To do this, right-click and select:

  • insert image from a file: Choose the image in the window that opens,

  • insert image from a URL: enter the image URL in the window that opens

This image is directly converted in BASE64 in order to be saved in the planner .vps file.

 

Inserting a resource’s icon

You can insert a resource’s icon in a text. To do so, right-click on the mouse or click on Insert > Attributes > Dimensions > Select the appropriate dimension > Select Icon.

An icon is displayed and can be modified by clicking on it (width, height…).

 

Displaying a resource’s color

You can choose the color of a resource as the color of a given text in a text. To do so, select the text then assign it a color in the color wheel.

Click on Insert > Attributes > Dimensions > Select the appropriate dimension > Select Color.

In the HTML tab, cut the code that refers to the color of the dimension and paste it instead of the code with quotation marks of the previously assigned color.

 

Adding a Resources list

You can insert a Resources view, in table mode, enabling you to view the resources using the dimension as a dependent resource.

By double-clicking on the representation zone in the resources editor, you can configure the Resources list in the editing window:

Title

You can assign a title to the representation zone

 

Display short name

Enable this button to display the names of the dimensions to which the headings to display belong, or the names of the VISUAL PLANNING entities.

Example: Start day: 24/11/2015 or Name: MARTIN

Font

Right-click to open the font definition window:

You can choose:

  • a font,
  • a style (bold, italics, etc.),
  • a character size.

Ascending sort

Enable this button to sort the resources in alphabetical order.

If it is disabled, the resources are sorted in reverse alphabetical order

 

Sort by

You must choose one of the headings from the dimension linked to this Resources list.

The button sort symbol is displayed on the header of the heading on which it has been sorted.

 

All headings

Enable this button to display all the headings of the resources.

  • Button disabled: new headings are not displayed automatically,
  • Button enabled: new headings are displayed automatically.

Description headings

These headings can be chosen from:

  • all the dimension’s headings,
  • headings of dependent resources,
  • resource settings (hourly calendar, daily calendar and the creation rule),
  • the resource‘s history attribute
  • Comments attributes (Last Post Date and Last Post User).

Use the bouton-crayon button to open the following window:

In the left-hand part choose the headings to display by dragging them from left to right using the arrows.

You can also sort appearance of data in the duration bar using the sorting arrows.

Click on OK to confirm your choice.

 

Filter

Select the linked resources that will appear in this list.

 

Display icons

In Table mode, this button is used to display the resource icons.

 

Display row numbers

This button is used to display the resource row numbers.

 

Display totals

This button enables you to display the total values of the numerical, control column and operation headings.

 

Background color

You can view resources with a background color.

This color can be:

 

Warning

Only persistent headings can be defined as a background color.

Size of icons

Choose the size of icons from 16 to 64 pixels.

 

Events list

You can insert an Events view enabling you to view the events of the selected resource.

Double-click to configure the display settings for the events view.

Mode

You can view an Events View in the form of:

  • Details,
  • Table.

Title

Give the view a title.

Events filter

Select the events filter to display in this view.

Period

Select the period of events covered to display in this view.

Horizontal grid

Enable this button to display a horizontal grid in the view when the display is in table mode.

Display row numbers

Warning

This option is only available in Table mode.

Enable this button to display the events row numbers.

Display totals

Warning

This option is only available in Table mode.

Enable this button to display the totals of the numerical, total column and operation headings.

Auto Format text

Warning

This option is only available in Table mode.

able this button to display the names of the VISUAL PLANNING attributes and entities in the Events view.

Color dimensions

Each event’s background color can be:

  • a single color if only a single dimension is set to be in color,
  • and multi-colored if several dimensions are set to be in color.

Warning

If several dimensions are chosen, the colors will only be visible in Details mode. In Table mode, only the color of the first dimension appears.

Display header label

Warning

This option is only available in Table mode.

Enable this button to display the names of the VISUAL PLANNING entities and attributes.

Example: Event-Start day: 24/11/2015 or Start day: 24/11/2015

Display short names

Enable this button to display the names of the dimensions to which the headings to display belong, or the names of the VISUAL PLANNING entities.

Example: Start day: 24/11/2015 or Name: MARTIN

Free HTML text

Warning

This option is only available in Details mode and if the Auto Format text button is disabled.

Right-clicking brings up an HTML editor.

Here you can create your own visuals for events in the view:

  • By entering formatted or unformatted text,
  • By inserting images, tables and event attributes,

 

Icon dimensions

You can choose one or more dimensions to show the event icons.

Icon size

Choose the size of the icons, from 16 to 64 pixels.

Labels

You can choose one or more headings to view for events or event attributes.

Font

You can choose:

  • a font,
  • a style (bold, italics, etc.),
  • a character size.

Ascending sort

Enable this button to sort the data in the first column of the list in ascending order.

Disable this button to sort resources in descending order.

Lists of hierarchies authorised

You can shorten the list of events hierarchies allowing you to create events by choosing from the list of existing hierarchies.

When using this view, you will only be able to create events using the hierarchies chosen.

You can create an event from this list in the editor by clicking on the button add button

Adding an Event Gantt

You can define a zone for representing the resource’s events in the form of a Gantt.

By double-clicking on the representation zone in the resources editor, you can configure the Gantt in the editing window:

Scale

You can choose the time scale from among the following:

  • Hour,
  • Day,
  • Week,
  • Month.

 

Title

You can assign a title to the representation zone

 

Activate Tree mode

Enable this button to display the list of events in Tree mode.

 

Events Filter

Used to choose the authorized events from among the list of existing filters.

 

Display row numbers

Enable this button to display the event row numbers.

 

Display totals

Enable this button to display the total values of the numerical, control column and operation headings.

 

Dimensions colors

Used to choose the background color of each event. This color can be:

  • one color if a single dimension is chosen to show the color,
  • multi-colored if several dimensions are chosen to show the color.

 

Dimensions icons

Used to choose one or more dimensions to show the event icons.

 

Size of icons

Choose the size of icons. from 16 to 64 pixels.

 

Labels

You can choose one or more headings to view for events or event attributes by clicking on bouton-crayon and choosing from among the list of headings.

 

Font

Right-click to open the font definition window where you can choose a font, a style (bold, italics, etc.), and a font size.

 

Adding a webview component

This functionality enables you to open an external input or viewing link, which makes it possible to add external functionalities via the VISUAL PLANNING interface.

 

Click on the webview button button to add a WebView.

Tip

Increase the size of the component so that it occupies a significant amount of space.

Double-click on the component to display the dialogue box where you can enter the URL, then click OK to verify.

Delete

To delete an object, select it and click on Delete.

 

Grid alignment

The editor interface is divided into a grid defined by points.

When you select the Grid alignment button, the interface components are moved between these points. If you do not select this button, they are moved pixel by pixel.

After renaming a component, you can go back and give it its default name again by selecting it and clicking on Default title.

Important

This function is only active if the editor has at least 2 tabs.

To move a component from one tab to another, select it and click on the Move to button.

 

Tab Management

Editors enable you to organize fields on several tabs within a resource’s editing window.

To add a new tab, click on the add button button. You can rename the tab by clicking on the bouton-crayon button.

This displays the list of tabs in the editor.

Browse from one tab to another to add the fields that will constitute the editor.

The image below shows a preview of the tabs.

To delete a tab, select it in the pull-down list and click on the vp7_fr_bouton_supprimerdeletion button.

 

Sort tabs

It is possible to sort the tabs of the editor. Click on the following button:

Preview

You can preview the configured editing window.

 

Pop-up menu

You can also add components using a pop-up menu (right-click). The mouse cursor position defines the top left corner of the added component.

When choosing components to add in the input editor, you can select several elements in one go by clicking on Select headings.

The following window opens:

You can select the attributes you want to add from a list. By default they are all selected.

 

Object alignment

You can align a set of objects with a single click.

First select the objects to align, then align them using the following block:

  • Left alignment: The objects are aligned left with the event you clicked on;
  • Center alignment: The objects are centered with respect to the event you clicked on;
  • Right alignment: The objects are aligned right with the event you clicked on;
  • Top alignment: The objects are aligned with the top of the object you clicked on;
  • Middle alignment: The objects are aligned at the same height as the middle of the event that you clicked on;
  • Bottom alignment: The objects are aligned with the bottom of the object you clicked on;

Same size

You can make the width or height of the components the same.

Select the objects and make them the same size by right-clicking on the reference event.

Naming objects

Some objects have to be renamed to correspond to business terminology.

To rename an object, double-click on the object to be renamed and type the new name in the window displayed.

 

Undo / Redo

When adding a field, you can undo or redo the eliminated data using the corresponding arrows.

Modifying a Resources Editor

 

To modify a resources editor, go to Global settings > Input editors > Resources Input editors > Select the editor to modify. The corresponding window is enabled.

Modify the characteristics, then click on the OK button to save the resources editor.

 

Deleting a Resources Editor

 

To delete a resources editor, go to General settings > Input editors > Resources editors > Right-click on the editor to delete > Delete.

The following screen appears:

Click on Yes to delete the editor.

Important

You cannot delete a default resources editor.

Duplicating a Resources Editor

 

To duplicate an existing resources editor, go to Global settings > Input editors > Resources Input editors > Right-click on the editor to duplicate > Duplicate.

Carry out the necessary modifications and click on OK to save them.

Important

You cannot delete a default resources editor.
