STRUCTURE: Counter type heading

This is a dimension or form type of heading.

The Counter type heading is incremental and cannot be typed in by the user.

It has:

  • A Format whose value can be an incremental number, a date and/or additional characters. There are three predefined default formats: Year orders, Timestamp and Simple,
  • A Start: start value for the increment.

Creating a heading

In the Settings menu:

  • Click on Dimensions > Right-click on a dimension > Create Heading > Choose the type,

  • Click on Forms > Right-click on a form > Create Heading > Choose the type.

The corresponding part then opens:

Specify the characteristics of the heading, then confirm by clicking on the OK button.

A Counter type heading has the following characteristics:

Give this heading a name.

If the multi-language management is activated in the Admin center, it will be possible to fill in a name for this heading in the proposed languages by clicking on the v7_adm_en_parametres_generaux_symbole_multilangue button.

Give the heading a description. This data is optional.

Enable this button to index the heading in the database. This serves to accelerate searches, filters, imports when this heading is used as a criterion in searches, filters or imports.

Indexing the headings makes it possible to improve performance on very specific cases.

We strongly advise you to contact STILOG I.S.T. technical support if these types of needs are identified.

You can prefix a counter type heading with a heading from the schedule.

This heading will also serve to as a determinant for the counter’s incrementation.

For example, if the heading defined serves to determine a country, the incrementation will be by country.

Prefix with heading

If the button is enabled, the value of the field Heading and the Separator are added to the counter.

If the button is disabled, only the counter is displayed. Neither the heading nor the separator will be displayed.

For example, if the heading defined serves to determine a country and the separator is “-” :

Enabled : compteur-prefix

Disabled : compteur-sans-prefix

If a heading is selected, you can define a separator between the heading and the counter’s incrementation.

There are three predefined formats:

  • Year orders C{d,yyyy}{n,0000}, this format represents a concatenation of:
    • the letter “C”,
    • the current year,
    • and an incremental 4 digit number.
  • Timestamp {d,yyyyMMddHHmmss}, this format represents the current Date/Time.
  • Simple {n,0000}, this format represents a 4 digit incremental number.

You can modify one of the existing formats to adapt it. You must keep to the standard for this format defined by the three examples. (See REGEX)

Example of format that can be created: ID – {n,00000} – {d,HHmm}

This heading’s value for future resources will be:

ID – a five digit number – hour/minute of resource creation:

  • ID – 000001 – 0850
  • ID – 000002 – 0912

Define the number the counter starts at.

If the Format is {n,0000} and the value of the Start setting is 1, the value of the Counter type heading for the first resource is: 0001.

For the subsequent resources, this value will be 0002, 0003, etc.

Modifying a heading

To modify a heading you must change the schedule’s architecture template.

This is an important configuration task and should not be performed without careful consideration.

To modify a heading, select the heading in the Settings menu. The corresponding part of the window is then enabled.

Modify the characteristics (see Creating a Counter heading), then click on the Validate button.

If you do not want the modification to take effect, you must click on the Restore button.

Deleting a heading

To delete a heading you must change the schedule’s architecture template.

This is an important configuration task and should not be performed without careful consideration.

Deletion of a heading is definitive.

This type of heading is viewed like all the headings:

Creating a resource or an event

A counter heading does not require any particular type of use.

When a resource (dimension heading) or an event (form heading) is created the heading is automatically given a value.

The user can only see the value of the heading in the window of properties of the resource or event.

Resetting a counter

You can reset a heading type of counter provided it is not a unique heading and it is not in a form.
